Abile Group has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Unified Communications Engineer supporting an Intelligence Community Customer. 


The right candidate will possess the below skills and qualifications and be ready to handle all responsibilities independently and professionally.


  • The Network Unified Comms Engineer should have Enterprise level IP Telephony administration experience in an operations and maintenance environment.
  • Duties include providing troubleshooting support with day-to-day operations and maintenance, monitoring, upgrades, network performance reviews, problem determination and resolution, of the AFRICOM unclassified and classified Voice and Video over IP (VVoIP), Voice over IP (VoIP) and Video Teleconferencing (VTC) services.
  • Duties also include configure devices in accordance with security policies.
  • Monitor capacity and utilization.
  • Provide trending and capacity planning services to analyze and plan for efficient utilization and management of the networked services.
  • Troubleshoot and correct all detected or reported network faults or outages.
  • Manage an enterprise VVoIP and VTC dial-plan.
  • Troubleshoot end user devices to determine reason for outage and return to service.
  • Perform account management functions.
  • Ensure that trouble ticket items are investigated and resolved.
  • Applicant must have a solid understanding of voice technologies and experience in administering Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Call Manager), voice gateways / Session Border Controllers, SIP, H.323, Cisco Expressway/ VCS, TMS, Prime Collaboration, Meeting Server, MCU and VoIP/Video endpoints. 
  • The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly both written and orally, have strong leadership skills, and present products and ideas in a business-like manner.

  • The candidate will be required to work in dynamic fast paced environments that require team interaction and coordination of efforts.

  • The candidate must be experienced in interfacing with both client managers and system users. 


  • Deliver infrastructure designs, builds, and escalated support to services and products.

  • Support network engineering activities that span across multiple disciplines and platforms.

  • Perform engineering functions found in the service design domain and provide escalated support to incident management.

  • Support engineering efforts to design, build, test, integrate, transition, implement, document, and train when transitioned to IT Operations Management.

  • Analyzing and making recommendations for hardware and software standardization. 


  • Additionally, the Network Unified Comms Engineer will provide remote support and/or travel to customer sites as required. 


Clearance Required: Active Secret


Degree and Years of Experience: BA/BS + 3 years recent specialized or AA/AS +7 years recent specialized or a major cert + 7 years recent specialized or 11 years of recent specialized experience 


Required Certifications:

  • CCNA – Collaboration Certification
  • CompTIA Security + (IAT Level II or greater) 

Desired Certifications:

  • ITIL v3 – Foundation
  • CCNP Collaboration Certification 


Required Skills:

  • Experience with Cisco Routers and Switches
  • Experience with Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems and networking
  • TESA eligibility 

Desired Skills: 

  • Adaptable to changing circumstances and operational needs
  • Understanding of Department of Defense Military standards
  • Experience with DoD IT security requirements
