Overview

Abile Group has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Core Services Engineer supporting an Intelligence Community Customer in Lorton, VA. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, engineering, implementing, securing and maintaining the core services infrastructure that forms the backbone of the customer technology platform on both classified and unclassified networks. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, system administrators, and network engineers, to ensure the seamless delivery of services to the customer.

 

The right candidate will possess the below skills and qualifications and be ready to handle all responsibilities independently and professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, deploys, and maintains core services infrastructure, including but not limited to DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, LDAP, and other critical components.
  • Implements best practices for monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure high availability and optimal performance of core services.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex issues related to core services infrastructure and collaborate with other teams to address system-wide problems.
  • Continuously assesses and improves the security posture of core services, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
  • Automates repetitive tasks and streamline processes to increase efficiency and reduce manual interventions.
  • Performs system administration of desktop and server systems connected to LAN and WAN; account monitoring, security, Operating System (OS) installation, and other local area system administration related functions.
  • Installs, administers, and maintains core services related virtual environments, physical hosts and storage devices.
  • Provides Tier 3 and Tier 4 problem identification, diagnosis and problem resolution.
  • Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to management and internal customers and technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Proposes new technology, lead and manage special projects, develop project plans with customer input and manage requirements and project operations.
  • Documents system configurations and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Provides on-call support/response for critical system emergencies, as required.

Qualifications

Clearance Required: Active TS/SCI 

 

Degree and Years of Experience: Bachelor's degree in technology related field with 6+ years of experience with Systems Administration (or equivalent experience)

 

Desired Certifications:

  • MS technology certification
  • IAT Level II baseline certification as defined by DoD 8570.01 (Security+)

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Core Services Engineer or a similar role managing critical infrastructure components
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and services such as DNS, DHCP, LDAP, etc
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Experience managing virtualization solutions such as VMware or Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Experience with deploying & hardening Windows Server 2016/19/22
  • Experience with a variety of system administration experience in areas such as AD, SCCM, IIS, SQL, Remedy ITSM, M3, Exchange, Linux, Unix, SNOW, Commvault, Netapp, Patch Management

Desired Skills: 

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and system management tasks
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience in ensuring Service Level Agreement (SLA) compliance
  • 5 Years of Experience managing IT Projects for classified systems
  • Support to DHS Programs Knowledge/Experience
